Brent has a great post on the importance of Apple events and Mac automation. I’ll add that AppleScript being more-or-less tied to the GUI means it has GUI-like consistency compared to the various incantations one is expected to memorize for CLI scripting.

Seeing this reminded how FF6 aged much better than FF7, at least for me. Having reflected on it, I think the feeling stems from a deep appreciation for in-game cinema. FF7’s cutscenes were a revelation, but took me out of the game whereas in-game cinema draws me in.

Am I the only one who he came away from Apple’s Monday event most excited for the new TV app?

  1. It looks like a marked improvement.
  2. It addresses existing pain points.
  3. It’s available in beta already.
  4. I will get it for free by being an Apple customer.

Apple used to reserve fanfare for products that were ready for release. The three exceptions that come to mind:

1) Mac OS X 2) iPhone 3) White iPhone 4.

Only 3 is anything like what we see from Apple today.

This Tweet will remain evergreen under Apple’s current leadership.

Yesterday’s event is proof of that.

I still kind of find @SlackHQ’s sidebar unmanageable so here’s my idea:

  • Recent (conversations within the last hour)
  • Favorites
  • Today
  • Channels
  • Direct Messages

What do people think?

Government regulators being too cozy with those they regulate isn’t solvable with less government/regulation.

Speaking of politics, this comic I made last year could be templated into something evergreen. If anything, Trump has proven that this Republican Party is built on feigning outrage and ignoring hypocrisy.

My 2016 Rant on False Equivalency

While there are some areas of overlap, falsely equating the two major parties/candidates in general via “well both sides… blah blah blah bullshit” is an inaccurate and dangerous schtick that I find is often used by the lazy, ignorant and/or pompous that ultimately discourages voting. Then, only after the worse candidate (because there is a worse candidate) gets elected, do some of these assholes pull a 180 to lament the disaster that’s befallen all of us.

If you believe the election has consequences, you must concede it matters who wins. Then if you believe it matters who wins, you have to concede that the candidates aren’t entirely the same. And if you believe that the candidates aren’t the same, then get off your ass, register, and vote for the one with least scary foreseeable consequences.

While most midlife crises involve cool stuff like sports cars, I have opted to acquire an old Apple Extended II keyboard.

It is glorious.

That is all.
