Thought’s on new Patriots uniforms

  1. Unlike other teams, the Patriots color rush uniforms actually looked good so their promotion is not surprising.
  2. That said, I am still not a fan of all solids.
  3. The new blue and red striped whites is reminiscent of their inaugural 1960 uniforms(I couldn’t find a good color photo from 1960 so Welker in the 50th anniversary throwback will have to do.) I think these look alright though I prefer a little separation in the stripes.
  4. Unlike all solids, I think all whites would’ve looked good.
  5. While red jerseys ultimately don’t make sense for a team called “The New England Patriots”1, I am curious if they considered red numbers on the whites.
  6. While this change is undoubtedly to juice jersey sales, I think switching jerseys now makes sense thematically. Part of me wishes they never go back and the Brady era look becomes a new throwback to remind all of us Patriots fans of the historically good players and teams that wore them.

  1. Though I do love the throwbacks. ↩︎

So the Browns effectively went back to their classic jerseys. Are we sure Nike isn’t just doing what Coca-Cola did with New Coke just to sell more jerseys?

Saying healthcare is a basic need and then adding “for some” is a good way to lose elections. Democrats need to embrace universal healthcare. It’s not only sound policy, it will also help keep many of them employed. /fin

Take healthcare as an example. Providing healthcare only to the unemployed excludes the uninsured. Providing healthcare only to the uninsured creates perverse incentives. Even providing healthcare to everyone but the top incomes is, dare I say, an unfair tax on the rich. /2

One way centrist Democrats undermine the party is by attempting to bargain on who gets safety nets. Not only does this torpedo the popularity of otherwise popular policy, bargaining over something everyone needs looks both foolish, callus and even divisive. /1

Organizing conversations via sections is so useful, I don’t know why it took @SlackHQ years to add. On the other hand, it took me years to realize how useful Mentions and reactions (formerly Activity) is for staying informed of recent interactions.
