Random thought: A lot of people criticize philanthropy as a form of vanity. That’s probably true in some cases, but wouldn’t you prefer the vanity of giving over that of greed?

Reading “liberal” homepages, you wouldn’t think there was an open assault on the USPS and our democracy, but rather politics as usual causing fears about the election. This isn’t a product of bias, but denial that democracy is dying under their watch.
Just to be clear, I think that the App Store was created with good intentions, but that its massive success combined with iPhone saturation created a perverse incentive for Apple to lean on App Store fees for continued growth.
Apple and possibly Nintendo make money on hardware. Sony and Microsoft sell hardware at a loss with the intent they will make it up on licensing/distribution fees. Does the latter model survive if those fees are deemed illegal?

Replace “journalism”, etc… with the terms from your profession. Sound familiar? Management says contractors minimize cost and risk. That’s true… for management, because contracting shifts cost and risk to the workers.
I am beginning to suspect that some on these conference calls also see noise as an art form.
