The AWS CLI seems very Mac-like. That may sound crazy, but the special sauce in the original macOS was not the GUI. It was a holistic approach that lets people take skills acquired in one application and reuse them in others. The AWS CLI seems holistic in much the same way.
Imagine someone robbing a bank, getting caught, then explaining to everyone that the robbery had nothing do with money. Now imagine reporters and law enforcement just reciting the robber’s explanation without question.

This past year I have taken to using an iPad Pro for personal stuff while at work. One behavior that I find completely bonkers is how music can be interrupted by websites without any interaction. Do the hardcore iPad users just put up with this or is it atypical behavior?
Many assumed Cam and New England were going to part ways, but I never understood why. Sure he didn’t play great, but that keeps his contract affordable and there’s reason to believe he’ll improve given a full offseason. Also, the coaching staff clearly get along well with him.
Is it just me or did Amazon recently stop showing cost on their orders summary page?
So if I understand correctly, Google is saying that tracking individuals isn’t necessary when interest groups serve the same purpose. I remember a Googler explaining this exact thing to me…
…a decade ago…
…to justify why it’s okay when Google tracks individuals.
And when the only other party still tries to be decent, newsworthy bias invariably helps the shameless party win elections as shameless acts committed by its shameless members end up getting overlooked while those committed by their competition get full coverage. /fin
What makes newsworthy bias harmful today is that instead of a single shameless asshole serially biting dogs, we have an entire party of assholes so shameless that any shameless act they commit is no longer considered newsworthy. /3
Even with the simple “man bites dog” example, newsworthiness is lost if the man in question is the same shameless asshole everyone knows has been biting dogs for years. “Man bites dog!? Oh, it’s just Steve again. Nevermind.” /2
I have been using the term “shit happens bias”, but maybe a more accurate (and less salty) moniker is “newsworthy bias” in that the newsworthiness of a shameful act is directly proportional to the decency of the person committing said act. /1
