So for all my gripes with Skyward Sword, I happened to get a nice little payoff from having just beat that game before returning to the Breath of the Wild DLC.
Warning: Spoilers Below.
The Master Sword in Skyward Sword comes with an AI named Fi. Anytime Fi emerges from the sword, a short digital sounding twinkly melody plays. As with much of the game, Fi is fairly emotionless. Despite that, there is a very touching farewell at the end wherein Fi tells Link her time with him is her most precious memory and leaves with “may we meet in another life” before going into eternal slumber in the glowing blue Master Sword.
After completing the Master Sword quest in Breath of the Wild, Link emerges with a more powerful Master Sword that now glows blue. He wields the blade, closes his eyes and listens. After a few beats, the sound of Fi’s short digital sounding twinkly melody echoes. The two do indeed meet again.
I would not have caught this easter egg had I not just played Skyward Sword, and am glad to have come across such a nice little moment.
